Getting up off the canvas

Steady persistence in a course of action, in spite of difficulties obstacles or discouragement.

Has anyone seen any of the rocky movies?

What is the theme of the movies :  underdog type hero, where he struggles through regular life and personal weakness to overcome what seems to be huge odds in the ring.

Saying from “Rocky Balboa”  “it's not how many times you get up, it's how hard you can get hit, and still keep moving forward” 

Now we can easily parallel our spiritual life to a boxing match .== Ephesians 6:10-12 (The Message) ==  We're in a fight against Satan and his demonic forces. He's and his corner, and we're in ours.  Many people will testify  that our spiritual walk is like a boxing match, Satan and his demonic forces are going to throw everything they've got at us.  And just like a boxer keeps his guard up, we have to keep ours up == 1 Peter 5:8-11 (The Message) ==

What kind of training does a boxer put himself through?  

Why do boxers go through all that tough training?

How does that training payoff?

In the Rocky movies, Rocky shows a lot of heart, will power, commitment, and a never quite attitude. 

            In our spiritual walk, we need to show in our lives the “heart of Christ” the “will power” that he offers us through salvation to resist temptation, the will power to NOT conform to this world == Romans 12:1-2 (The Message) == the will power that can be so strongly influenced by Gods Holy Spirit.  We need to mirror a commitment to spiritually go toe to toe with the forces of darkness that try to twist what God has tried to bless us with.  A commitment that is evident to all, a commitment to tell others about what God wants them to have. Along with our spiritual walk, we need to have a never quite attitude, a “NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, I WILL NOT QUITE, I WILL NOT FALTER FROM THE CALL OF CHRIST, I WILL NOT BE SILENT, I WILL GET UP IF CIRCUMSTANCES KNOCK ME DOWN, I WILL NOT QUITE” 

What kind of training does a Christian need to put him or her self through?

Why do we go through all that training?

How does that training payoff?

Towards the end of the movie, rocky gets hit, and goes down to one knee………  he tells himself, “get up, get up”    maybe Satan has knocked you to one knee….your hurting, tired, people say you can't do it, Satan saying to you stay down you've lost….  But God is calling you to “get up, get up”…..  and just like Rocky's  opponent in the movie his eyes got big, in surprise…. Are you ready to surprise Satan, by answering Gods cry to get up!!!  LETS GET OFF THAT CANVAS TODAY!!
